The state home department has decided to compulsorily retire Marie-Lou Fernandes, an Indian Police Service officer, who has not reported for work for over three years.
The 1991 batch officer had last served as DCP of Zone-VII from December 2004 to August 2005 before she went on leave.
She sought extension of the leave but the request was turned down by the then commissioner of police A N Roy. Ho

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government faced embarrassment on Wednesday with the central administrative tribunal (CAT) quashing its appointment of A N Roy as the state’s director general of police.
It has directed the government to appoint another DGP within four weeks from among the three seniormost IPS officers in the state (who are all in the rank of DG)—S S Virk, Suprakash Chakravarty and J D Vir
