Rumours of takeover bid for rediff.com resurface

Rumours have resurfaced that Rediff is on the block, sending the company’s shares up during trading, before giving up some gains. Analyst Ashish Thadhani of Gilford Securities called the company an attractive target in theory, but denied that any deal is imminent.

India was the flavour of the day on the first day of the big TV conference Mipcom, which is currently on this week in Cannes, France. Vishal Gondal, the head of Indiagames dismissed TV as “boring” for the 54 percent of Indians under 25, but added that 'games rock'. The Zee Group CMD Subhash Chandra said that India had the potential to become the largest pay TV market in the world.

Violent clashes result in death of 195 : Pakistan

Three days of fighting in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan has resulted in the deaths of over 150 pro-Taliban militants and 45 soldiers. The army, however, ruled out the possibility of declaring a ceasefire to put an end to the violence.

Sharif will return to Pak next month : Son

The son of former Pakistani Premier Nawaz Sharif said that his dad would return to Pakistan between November 15 and 30. Sharif who attempted to return to Pakistan, was deported to Saudi Arabia on September 10 within hours of setting foot on Pakistani soil after a seven-year exile.

Thanks to a five-wicket haul by paceman Munaf Patel, the Rest of India beat the Ranji champions Mumbai on the final day of their Irani Trophy encounter on Tuesday. Mumbai were earlier all out for 106, thus setting a small target of 88 runs for Rest of India, who achieved the score in just 18.5 overs.
