SITE Intelligence Group which monitors the activity of terrorist groups said that Osama bin Laden plans to release a new video which is adressed to the American people on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Alexandria based Intelcenter said the video was expected within the next 72 hours, or by Sunday.

The capital of Taiwan was struck by a strong earthquake which shook buildings and awoke residents from their sleep, howeevr no damage or injuries were reported. The Central Weather Bureau said that a temblor having a magnitude of 6.6 struck at sea, 74 kilometres southeast of the eastern city of Ilan near Taipei at 1:51 am local time.

The former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy and his wife and state Minister N Rajyalakshmi had a narrow escape in a Maoist landmine attack in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning. However two Congress activists and a driver were killed in the incident.
