The incident of a woman, Pooja Chauhan, walking semi-nude on the streets of Rajkot to protest alleged dowry harassment has sent shockwaves across the conservative city. The Gujarat Government has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Pooja's unusual form of protest did have the desired effect with her tormentors being arrested.

A 22-year-old woman, Swapnali Shiropath, had earlier claimed that she was gangraped by her paramour and two others after being forced to drink some intoxicating juice. However, on Friday she changed her stance, stating that she was a victim of domestic violence and that she had not been gangraped.

For Indians, the cellphone is becoming the preferred medium to surf the internet. The number of Indians accessing internet through their mobile phones is now over three times those using the PC to connect to the Web. According to the TRAI, India has 9.27 million internet subscribers as compared to 31.30 million users who access internet through their mobile phones.

Municipal body seeks to kill stray dogs: Mumbai

In a bid to reduce the number of stray dogs on the streets of Mumbai, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai is considering a proposal to eliminate them instead of sterilising and rehabilitating them. The Corporation is planning to approah the Supreme Court to to seek permission to put the animals to sleep instead of sterilising them.

Khafeel Ahmed, who was allegedly responsible for driving the SUV into Glasgow airport last week, was a member of the Students Islamic Organisation. During his stint with the SIO, he was brainwashed by being shown extensive footage of the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, the Mumbai riots of 1993, the Gujarat riots of 2002, and also of the Iraq war.
