Powar to be replaced by Kartik

The Indian selectors have axed off-spinner Ramesh Powar for the fourth and fifth matches of the one-day series against Australia. Powar will be replaced by left-arm spinner Murali Karthik for the games in Chandigarh (October 8) and Baroda (October 11). The selection committee has also decided to retain the squad that won the World Twenty20 for the one-off Twenty20 game against Australia in Mumbai

Dhoni says Saurav was rested

The Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that Sourav Ganguly was "rested" for the third One-Day International against Australia in Hyderabad. This was in contrast to the BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah's statement that "Ganguly was dropped for the match". Dhoni blamed Friday's loss on the batsmen, saying that lose of early wickets is hurting the team a lot.
