Counting of votes for the elections to the 40-member Goa Assembly is underway amidst tight security.According to initial trends, the Congress is leading in 12 seats followed by the BJP with four seats while Others are ahead in two seats.
Former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar has won the Panaji Assembly seat by defeating Congress candidate Dinar Tarcar by 1,444 votes.

Rajasthan's violent clashes over ST reservation for the Gujjar community spilled over into the national capital region on Monday. Five teenagers who hit and injured two street vendors on Mumbai's Carter Road on Saturday have been granted a day's bail by the court. They will be produced before a juvenile court today.
The teenagers were in a speeding Honda Accord and allegedly racing down the promenade after watching a film when the accident occurred.
