Lal Masjid closed indefinitely after suicide attack

The Lal Masjid in Pakistan has been sealed off by the Pakistani government following a suicide attack which resulted in the death of 15 people during clashes between Islamic extremists and security forces. Poliemen have set up new checkpoints and cordoned off the area around the Masjid compound. "The mosque will now remain closed for an indefinite period": the Interior Ministry spokesman said.

Haneef receives "no objection" to leave Australia

The Australian Minister for Immigration, Kevin Andrews announced that Mohammed Haneef will be allowed to leave Australia, but his work visa will not be reinstated. Haneef who was released from prison after the terror charges levelled against him were dropped, had received a "no objection" to leave Australia from the government.

The Australian Immigration Minister, Kevin Andrews said that he would not reinstate Haneef Mohammed's visa, which had been cancelled by him on character grounds. Although Haneef had been granted bail by a magistrate, his visa was revoked by Andrews on July 16 and he was detained by the authorities.

The Australian police said that the reason for the false charges levelled against Indian Doctor,Haneef Mohammed was due to wrong information received from British investigators. The British authorities informed their Australian counterparts that Haneef's 'SIM Card' was found in the jeep allegedly used by Kafeel Ahmed in the Glasgow failed bombing attempt.
