Initially realty cos such as Unitech and Parsvnath put their applications before the Department of Telecom. Now it is the turn of Indiabulls, which will be shortly joined by DLF Ltd in seeking to make inroads into the telecom services sector.

Boyywood actor Shilpa Shetty faced an unpleasant situation at the international airport in Mumbai prior to leaving for Germany for the West End musical 'Miss Bollywood.' The reason for the unfortunate event was that the immigration officials at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport were apparently not informed of the Supreme Court clearance given to the Bollywood actor to travel abroad.

The Iranian officials have issued a warning to India that it would sign a multi-billion dollar gas pipeline deal with Pakistan alone if New Delhi did not swiftly agree terms on transit pricing with Islamabad. The former Pakistani Premier Benazir Bhutto said that she wished to see a treaty between India and Pakistan in the 60th year of their Independence that "promises" peace for the coming generations."In the 60th year of Pakistan's and India's independence, we would like to see India and Pakistan to come to a treaty that can promise peace to coming generations," she said at a press conference.

Army Chief seeks records to be made public

The Army Chief General J J Singh has sought the de-classification of the war records of the 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars in order that soldiers and others can draw lessons from these conflicts. At the release of a coffee table book, he said, "War histories of 1962 Sino-Indian conflict, and 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars should be made public".
