Despite the fact that the country is on the verge of getting its first woman Commander-in-Chief, the chief of the Indian Air Force, air chief Marshal Fali H Major feels his force is not yet ready to sign up women fighter pilots.The IAF-chief's comments has brought to the fore the debate that the army is only paying lip service to women's empowerment.

India is likely to be the third largest banking hub after China and the US by the year 2040 as the banking sector is likely to witness a major growth in the emerging economies of the world. According to a report by PWC, the banking sector will grow significantly faster than GDP in the E7 group of emerging economies, which includes India.

In response to the controversy over the Shiv Sena's support to the UPA-Left Presidential candidate, Mrs Pratibha Patil, the Sena asked the BJP to understand its political compulsions and not to unnecessarily create an altercation. “Shiv Sena does not want the alliance with BJP to break and they (BJP) should refrain from making harsh statements,” counselled Mr Udhav Thackeray.

Nine people have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a POTA Court, in the Haren Pandya murder case.However, Pandya's family is dissatisfied with the verdict.His widow Jagruti Pandya said: "I have great respect for the Indian judiciary, but I cannot accept this judgment because it is based on an incomplete investigation."

Rupesh Kumar, an engineering student and resident of Adoni town in Kurnool district, created panic at the Hyderabad Regional Passport Office at Secunderabad by posing as a 'suicide bomber' and threatening to blow up the office. Upon being apprehended, he told the police that he enacted the drama as a protest against the apathy of Passport Office authorities.
