Musharraf: Sharif can return home

Hours after the Pakistan Supreme Court granted Nawaz Sharif the permission to return to the country, the Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf said that the former premier could return home. Overseas markets down, outlook seems bleak

The US and Asian indices were on a downtrend with Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average dropping 0.3 percent to 16,271.08 and the Kospi index declining 1.1 percent in South Korea. Meanwhile, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 1.57, or 0.1 per cent, to 1,462.5, the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.25 to 13,235.88 and Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 11.1, or 0.4 percent, to 2,541.70.
