Ideological differences split Al Qaeda

In a report in it's upcoming issue,the Newsweek magazine claims that there is an "ideological split" within the ranks of the Al Qaeda, with Ayman Al-Zawahiri taking over the operational control of the group. It also claims that the suicide attacks in Pakistan following the storming of Lal Masjid by the army to flush out militants were ordered at the behest of Al-Zawahiri.

Mild quake felt in North India

A mild earthquake was felt in certain parts of North India early Monday morning. The quake with the epicentre at Uttarkashi in Uttrakhand, measured 4.9 on the Richter scale. The tremors were also felt in Delhi, Meerut and Haridwar.

Mohamed Haneef's lawyer claims that his relative from India who has flown to Australia-to provide him moral support- has not yet received permission to meet him. Imran Siddiqui, the relative in question, has vowed to remain in Australia until he can take Haneef home.

The Australian Medical Association claims that foreign doctors may blacklist Australia following the treatment meted out to Dr Mohameed Haneef, an Indian physician, at the hands of the Australian authorities. Haneef has been been charged with "recklessly" providing support to a terrorist organisation.

Delhi's commuters will experience a harrowing time commuting to work on Monday, after the government has grounded more than 3500 Blueline buses. In a bid to curb the number of accidents taking place, the buses have been banned from plying until they comply with the government's safety measures. So far, out of a fleet of 4,500 Blueline buses sent for safety checks, just 712 have made the cut.
