The former Union Minister Shibu Soren has been acquitted in connection with the murder of his private secretary Shashi Nath Jha in 1994 by a bench of the Delhi High Court comprising Justice R S Sodhi and H R Malhotra. The bench slammed the CBI for failing “miserably” in getting evidence against Soren.

The former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto provided details of a power-sharing deal which would would strengthen the fight against terrorism. According to a full page advertisement placed by the Health Department of the Kerala Government in newspapers in Kerala, almost 140 government doctors have been reportedly missing from duty. Most of the doctors had left their posts in government hospitals in search of more lucrative offers in private hospitals in India or abroad, especially in the Gulf.

A new feature has been developed by Google which allows users of Google Earth to view the sky as seen from terra firma. The tool, which has been titled Sky, allows user of Google Earth to view and navigate through 100 million individual stars and 200 million galaxies with high-resolution imagery and information overlay to teach users about space.

Two Swiss students, Lukas Aider and Christoph Kurz were enjoying a game of frisbee in the Danube river, however unknow to them, their flying disk was actually a live land mine. The Law Council of Australia has said that the Federal Court's decision on the Mohammed Haneef case that the Government cannot cancel someone's visa on the basis of an innocent association would be the last word on the matter. The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Kolkata on Thursday on a day-long visit to the city, he was accompanied by his wife Akie. The West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee received Abe at the airort. Following the visit an announcement may be made for the proposed East-West Metro corridor project in the metropolis by the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
