Enraged by the UK's decision to knight controversial India-born author Salman Rushdie whose work has infuriated Muslims across the world, the Speaker of Pakistan's Punjab provincial assembly, Afzal Sahi,said that any person committing blasphemy against the Holy Prophet was liable to be killed and that he would definitely kill the blasphemer if he came across him today.

Australian Prime Minister John Howard ruled out the possibility of legalising same-sex marriages; although, the results of a new survey show that 57% Australians are in favour of giving homosexuals the right to marry.
