A sixteen-year old pregnant girl, staged her own 'abduction' in cahoots with her boyfriend, so that she could undergo an abortion. Tanvi, the girl in question, who was six months pregnant, got herself admitted to a private nursing home and underwent the abortion, while lying to her parents that she had been abducted.

Taliban kidnap 18, threaten to kill them

The Blueline buses have been involved in seven deaths and 11 accidents this month itself thus forcing the Delhi government to take cognizance of the menace posed by the buses. The Government has called for all the 5000 buses to be grounded this weekend, so that the government can carry out checks with regard to the driver's details as well as inspect the buses for speed governors.

Cops mistaken for dacoits, beaten up

A police team which had gone to a village at Hardoi in UP, in order to arrest a criminal, was beaten up by the villagers, who mistook them for 'dacoits'. According to sources, the team led by in-charge of Kotwali Dehat, was severely beaten up, resulting in injuries to several policemen.

A former customs official, Somnath Thapa has been sentenced to life imprisonment for facilitating the smuggling of two caches of arms and explosives at Dighi and Shekhadi on the Raigad coast in January and February 1993. Thapa, who is suffering from lung cancer will be lodged in the Arthur Road jail so that he could continue his chemotherapy.
