Flash floods have struck over 300 villages in Sitamarhi and Muzzafarpur districts in north Bihar killing atleast six and displacing more than 25,000 people.So what once was a national highway is now a waterway. And crossing the stretches could well be disastrous.

The residents of a housing society in Jharkhand have filed a PIL against cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They fear water scarcity due to construction of a proposed swimming pool by the star cricketer. However the petition is yet to be admitted by the court.

The United National Progressive Alliance will meet President A P J Abdul Kalam this evening to persuade him to run for a second term as he was the "universally accepted" leader for the high office. A delegation of top leaders of the alliance, known as third front, would meet Kalam to convince him the need for a leader like him to continue in the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A large number of pilgrims are visiting the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi, with 30,000 to 35,000 devotees from across the country arriving daily at the Katra Base camp, according to a a spokesman of the Shri Mata Vaishnovdevi Shrine Board (SMVSB). He claimed the reason for the increase in pilgrims was the ongoing summer vacations.

It seems that when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to tighten the noose around Moninder Singh Pandher in the mysterious disappearance, rape and murder of minors in Nithari, the local court has taken the task upon itself to do it. The CBI on Tuesday submitted the confessional statements of Pandher that he had given to Noida police before the court.

Injured tigress showing signs of recovery

The tigress, which was rescued in an injured state from the Satkosia wildlife sanctuary in Angul district nearly three months ago, is showing signs of recovery, zoo officials said.When the tigress was brought to the zoo, it was in a bad shape with multiple gun injuries and there were maggots in it's wounds.

2 killed as Maoists attack train in Bihar

A gang of 20 armed menmen attacked the Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel on the Howrah bound Kathgodam Express train at the Badagopal station in Saran district. Two security personnel were killed in the attack and and two were injured but no passenger was killed.
