Superstar Sanjay Dutt, who has been awarded a 6-year "rigorous imprisonment" sentence under the Arms act will have to face the harsh reality of prison. Dutt who will be treated like any other convict will soon have to choose between cooking, carpentry, farming or weaving and will have to work in prison as part of the rigorous imprisonment.

Madhani released on bail : Coimbatore Serial Blasts

Abdul Nasser Madhani, who had five charges against his name, including criminal conspiracy to trigger the Coimbatore serial blasts, has been absolved from all the five charges and has been released on bail by the Sessions Court. Madhani, was released from the central prison, where he was lodged for the last nine and half years.

Boat carrying marooned people capsizes, 28 killed

In a tragic incident, a boat filled with people, who were trying to flee a flooded village in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj village, capsized killing 28 people. The boat was carrying 50 people who were leaving the marooned Harkapur village along with their belongings. The boat capsized due to the strong currents of the river which was in spate.

According to highly classified intelligence documents, Dr Haneef Mohammed was regularly in contact with Islamic radicals who were under the surveillance of the British spy agency MI5. The documents reveal Haneef made contact using medical chat rooms, international phone cards and phone boxes. On the other hand, an Indian police intelligence alleged Haneef had links to al Qaeda.

Heavy rains in the capital resulted in water logging at many places throwing life out of gear for commuters. The torrential rains which began Wednesday afternoon, initially came as a respite to Delhiites from the heat, however the incessant downpour multiplied the woes of commuters, as most of the Blueline buses are still off the road.

Haneef Mohammed said that the information provided by the Australian Immigration minister, regarding his online conversations was not new and that he had clarified this with the police during his interrogation.
