Building collapses in Mumbai suburb, kills 21

A section of a building has collapsed in the northern suburb of Borivli in Mumbai killing 21 and injuring 11 who were admitted to the nearby Bhagwati hospital. However, several others are feared to be trapped under the debris of the 20-year old Laxmi Chhaya building. So far, the deceased include seven men, eleven women and three children.

A suicide bomber struck a police training college -when police recruits were gathered for their morning drill - in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP) killing eight persons and injuring 23. A spate of suicide attacks have been launched in Pakistan in retaliation to the crackdown on Lal Masjid.

The Indian doctor, Haneef Mohammed reportedly had a chat with his second cousin Sabeel Ahmed in an internet chatroom about the birth of his child just days before the attack on Glasgow airport.Haneef - who has been charged with "recklessly" supporting a terrorist organisation- last communicated online with Sabeel on June 26, three days before the failed bombings took place.

The toll of fatal accidents involving Delhi's privately operated Blueline buses has reached 63 this year, with another person being crushed to death under the wheels of a Blueline bus. Inspite of repeated assurances by the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of phasing out the rogue buses, the casualties continue to go up everyday.

A London school which has strict regulations banning the wearing of ornaments has disallowed a 16-year old girl from wearing a 'purity ring' at school to symbolise her commitment to virginity. The girl, Lydia Playfoot, challenged the school's decision to ban pupils from wearing religious symbols or clothing, however, the High Court ruled in favour of the school.

A judge at the Australian federal court has slammed the Immigration Department for their interpretation of the character test used to revoke Mohammed Haneef's visa. Justice Jeffrey Spender claims that even he wouldn't pass the test if the same rules were applied to him.
