Possibility of suicide attacks very high : Pakistan

The Government in Pakistan has issued a warning stating the possibility of an increase in the number of suicide attacks in the forthcoming days. The Interior Secretary Sayed Kamal Shah says he fears more attacks in Islamabad as there are reports of a number of suicide bombers having entered the city.

Monica wants to 'return to films'

Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi, who was acquitted by a court in Bhopal in connection with a fake passport case, has expressed her desire to return to films and even claims to have received some offers. Monica, who was extradited to India from Portugal along with her companion gangster Abu Salem, in 2005 claims her acquittal in the fake passport case came as a "big surprise".

Abu Umar, a self-styled commander and India-based coordinator of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba was killed after a two-hour long gunbattle in Doda district. A woman who was used by the militant as a human shield also died in the incident.

Haneef to appeal against decision to cancel visa

Mohammed Haneef, has filed an appeal against the Australian government's decision to cancel his visa and keep him behind bars. Haneef's solicitor Peter Russo declined to provide any details of the appeal, whose hearing could be more than a month away.The matter will be mentioned in the federal court in Brisbane later on Wednesday.

ISI courier involved in Mecca Masjid blasts: Reports

Mohammed Abdul Kareem Quadri, an ISI courier, who was arrested on July 15, is reportedly an aide of the mastermind of the Mecca Masjid bomb blasts on May 18. Police sources claim, that Qadri, was frequently in touch with Shahed alias Bilal, the alleged mastermind behind the masjid blasts.

Mohammed Haneef, the Indian doctor, held by the Australian authorities, denies beng a part of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India(SIMI) group during his medical school days. Haneef's response was in reply to a probe by the Australian authoriites, looking into an article in an Indian newspaper, the Asian Age, alleging that Haneef belonged to the banned outfit.

The former Pakistani Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto alleged that the role of an 'invisible hand' could not be ruled out in the bomb blasts that took place in Islamabad on Tuesday. She claimed that the bomb blast that took place was directed against her Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and it aimed at creating panic and imposing emergency in a bid to put off the general elections later this year.
