An Argentinian court in its detailed order turning down the CBI's plea to extradite Bofors -accused Ottavio Quattrocchi has said that the Italian businessman's detention in Argentina may have been illegal.It seems the CBI did not have a valid arrest warrant against Quattrocchi.

The Rajasthan Government has told the Supreme Court that the Gujjar agitation went out of control despite the best efforts to control violent mobs. Taking suo motu cognisance of the large-scale violence and describing it as a "national shame," the court on June 5 directed Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi to file reports.

Seven members of an alleged "sleeper" al-Qaeda cell, run by an India-born terrorist, were on Friday jailed for up to 26 years for plotting terror attacks that could have killed "thousands" in Britain and America. The "cell" was organised by Dhiren Barot, who was born in India but grew up in Britain and later converted to Islam.

Maninder Pal Singh Kohli on Friday challenged in the Delhi High Court a lower court order extraditing him to the United Kingdom to face trial for allegedly assaulting and murdering British teenager Hannah Foster in 2003. Two security force personnel and two militants, believed to be part of a suicide squad, were killed and nine others injured during the past 24 hours in Kashmir.
