Shoaib appeals against fine

Controversial Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar was fined Rs 100,000 for leaving a training camp in Karachi earlier this month and Rs 200,000 for snubbing a subsequent disciplinary hearing. Shoaib said that he had appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board against the fine as he was not given a chance to to give explain his version.

Omnitech InfoSolutions Ltd. which listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at Rs183.75 as against the issue price of Rs105 which translates to a prmium of of 75%. The company which had earlier come out with a 100% book built IPO of 3,888,840 shares of Rs10 each was subscribed 61.84 times.

A report by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) predicts that the service sector will surpass all other sectors in job creation by 2015 in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes India and China. It furthers states that 40.7% of the region's total employment will be in the service sector.

Following a report on the "Plight of Indian Women Deserted by NRI Husbands" a Parliamentary committee has recommended the enactment of uniform personal laws for all religions on matrimonial issues, besides asking for compulsory registration of all marriages irrespective of religion. The laws should be uniform on grounds of marriage/divorce, maintenance, property rights and related issues.
