Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina's hopes of making a comeback into the ODI squad for the forthcoming matches agasinst Australia were shattered as the selectors have decided to retain the same squad for the final two matches of the series. Following their loss at Vadodara, the Indians are trailing 3-1 and need to win both the matches to draw the series.

Inspite of the poor performance of the Indian batsmen, the skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni refused to lay the blame on them, instead referring to them as the the best line-up at his disposal. The Indian side were reduced to 43 for five at one stage by the Australian bowlers before the entire team was bowled out for a paltry 148 in 39.4 overs.

The Australian skipper Ricky Ponting referred to his side's victory over the Indians as a 'flawless job' and added that it was possible because of his team had done it's homework. "It has been our best performance of the series so far. We batted, bowled and fielded very well. We did almost a flawless job. We played a great game," he said.

Inflation drops to 3.26 per cent

On account of a fall in the prices of pulses and food articles, the wholesale price index(WPI), inflation has once again declined to 3.26 per cent for the week ended September 29, as compared to 3.42 per cent for the previous week. The annual rate of inflation stood at 5.41 per cent a year ago.

The shares of Koutons Retail India Ltd listed on the stock markets at a premium of 24% to the offer price. The stock opened at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) at Rs515 as against the issue price of Rs415 per share and at 10:14 a.m., the scrip was trading at Rs595.60 after being as high as Rs649 amid volume of 1.29mn shares.
