Although the Aussies are currently enjoying a 2-1 lead in the series, the skipper Ricky Ponting said that his side will not complacent in the fifth ODI match to be played at Vadodara. "Tomorrow is the biggest game of the series for us. We are taking it as a final, that's how we are building it up as. The series is at 2-1 and has come alive," Ponting said.

Sania Mirza continued with her good form as she and her partner Patty Schnyder of Switzerland reached the quarter-finals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. Mirza and her partner beat Vera Dushevina of Russia and Tatiana Perebiyinis of Ukraine 6-1 6-3 to reach the last eight of the 1,340,000 dollar Tier I hard court event.

The Asian markets were upbeat on account of speculations that global demand for commodities will be able to counter a slowdown in the US economy. Indexes such as the Nikkei in Tokyo advanced 267 points to 17,441, while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong jumped 307 points to 28,876. Seoul's Kospi rose 7 points to 2048 whereas, Singapore's Straits Times rallied 65 points at 3879.

Sensex opens positively

Inspite of poor Q2 figures from Infosys, the markets have opened positively with the 30-share Sensex gaining 58 points to reach 18,708 and NSE Nifty rising by 17 points to cross 5,459. Index heavyweights like ICICI Bank, L&T, BHEL and HDFC Bank are the major gainers and have managed to hold the key indices from sliding.

On account of disappointing Q2 numbers by IT bellweather Infosys, the IT stocks are down. Infosys leads the slide with the scrip being down down by over 4% to Rs2042, Satyam Computer has slipped 2% to Rs474, Wipro fell 2.1% to Rs492 and TCS slid 1% to Rs1115.

On account of a rising Rupee eating into it's profits, the BPO industry is now looking at a two-pronged strategy to counter the risk posed by a stronger Rupee. BPO's are trying to locate more delivery centres abroad to serve those markets. And they are trying to win more business from the domestic market.

Infosys Technologies Ltd, posted a 1.9 per cent rise in quarterly profit on Thursday, thus meeting the forecasts even as a rising Rupee limited the gains from new contracts. India's No. 2 software services exporter said its net profit rose to Rs 1100 crore in the quarter ended September, its fiscal second quarter, from Rs 1,079 crore a year earlier.

A spokesman for ICICI Bank Ltd, said that it has cut interest rates on home loans and other retail loans by 25-50 basis points with immediate effect.
