The multi-million dollar Indian Cricket League (ICL) seems to be gaining momentum in the political circle.The league is receiving support from political parties across an otherwise rigid political-ideological boundaries. The ICL has so far received the approval of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad as well BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

A poll conducted revealed that more than 50 percent of Americans feel that the US news organisations are 'politically biased, inaccurate, and don’t care about the people they report on'. Among the respondents who use the Internet as their main source of news, nearly two-thirds said they felt that news organisations don’t care about the people they report on.

'Taliban, Koreans negotiate on hostages' : Afghanistan

A meeting between two top Taliban leaders and four South Korean officials was held for the first time wherein they negotiated the fate of 21 members of a church group held hostage for three weeks. The militants have threatened to kill more hostages if their demands to release Taliban prisoners held by the Afghan government and the US military are not met.

Jimmy the goat crowned king of Ireland

The Puck fair was held in the town of Killorglin in southern Ireland. A white mountain goat, was crowned the king of Ireland in a traditional ceremony, that dates back many years. Jimmy the goat who will receive royal treatment, was captured from the wild and after three days of regality will be dethroned and released back into the wild.

19 killed in floods, landslides in northwest China

Torrential rainfall accompanied by rainstorms triggered floods in northwest China,killing 19 people and resulting in 37 people going missing. The rainstorms destroyed homes and ruined crops, causing 280 million yuan (37 million dollars) in damages. According to the ministry, the death toll from natural disasters this year is 1,279.

56 school girls take ill in Howrah district

Fifty-six girl students of the Khila Girls High School in Howrah district of West Bengal have suddenly taken ill and 16 of them had to be hospitalised, according to the police. The cause of the illness is still unknown and is being ascertained.
