A Financial Express report stated that money spent on the content of websites will be exempt from tax. This order was passed by a bench of the Income-tax Appellate Tribunal(ITAT) stating that such an expenditure can be allowed as revenue business expenditure.

The leading online search engine Google has launched a new feature enabling mobile subscribers to receive local information on their handsets. The beta version of the feature, called Google SMS has been launched across four cities Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Inspite of weak cues from the European markets, the Indian stock markets have risen in the late afternoon trades as the Sensex crossed the 18,700 figure. Stocks such as L&T, Infosys, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel were among the major gainers in the Sensex pack, while HDFC Bank, ITC, Bajaj Auto and HDFC are among the major losers.
