Troops storm Lal Masjid, 23 killed

The Pakistani army stormed the compound of Islamabad's Lal Masjid resulting in a fierce battle with militants holed up in the mosque. The militants put up a 'tough resistance' resulting in the deaths of at least three soldiers and 20 militants in the assault.

An internet posting by an animal rights activist, Huo Puyang, stating that two trucks carrying cats in wooden boxes had been intercepted, resulted in 30 animal lovers rushing to a parking lot in Shanghai thus saving the lives of the felines.

Girl’s death in hospital triggers rampage:Kolkata

The wettest place on the Earth, Cherrapunji, which is located in the East Khasi Hill district of Meghalaya, has changed it's name to Sohra, the name by which it is referred to by local tribal population. Cherrapunji, was the name given to the region by the British.
