Astronauts examine spacecraft Endeavour for damages

The Space Shuttle Endeavour is on an 11-day mission to install a 2.5-ton solar panel on the International Space Station (ISS), conduct repairs on the orbiting station and deliver supplies. The astronauts on board the space shuttle spent their first day in space inspecting the craft for any damage sustained during take-off.

The Supreme Court issued a clarification that it would not hear Sanjay Dutt's bail plea on Friday. A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan stated the court had only listed the matter to be "mentioned" on Friday, following which a formal date would be fixed for the hearing.

ISRO planning manned space mission

The chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) G Madhavan Nair said that the space agency is considering the prospect of sending a manned mission to space. Nair added that a mission to Mars was at a conceptual stage and a project to send a satellite to the red planet is being considered.
